A safe and happy place where children can grow in God's love!
- The preschool is normally open on regular school days (according to the elementary school schedule) from 8 AM to 3 PM. Five days a week, Monday through Friday.
- The preschool is available to potty-trained students who are three-and-a-half to five years old.
- The program first opened its doors on Tuesday, September 7, 1999!
- As a Catholic preschool, religion and religious exercise (e.g. prayer, religious songs and music, celebration of religious themes and holy days) is an integral part of the regular curriculum.
- The preschool room has been especially designed to meet the needs of preschoolers.
- Early morning care (7:00-8:00 AM) and after-school care (3:00-6:00 PM) are available at a most reasonable extra charge for those families who would like to use this service. (If fewer than five students are registered for and regularly attend-3 out of five days-for the after-school program, the program will close at 4 PM and rater will then be adjusted accordingly.).
- The program will accept only 20 students. The play area is secure and very spacious!
- Lunch (including beverage) is provided Monday through Friday at a low cost of $3.00, or families may opt to send children to school with a "brown bag" lunch. Milk (and sometimes juice) is also available at lunch for only twenty-five cents.
- Students bring their own morning snack, but the afternoon snacks are provided for the children.
- Students wear the Sacred Heart School uniform, which is available from Dennis Uniform in Fresno.
- Tuition is based on a flat rate regardless of the number of days the program is used. Since the cost is so reasonable, there is neither a multiple child rate nor other discounts. Although offered five days a week, a family may choose to enroll a student fewer days if space is available and with the concurrence of the director.
- So that parents can get more involved in the school, each family agrees to complete a minimum of 10 service hours each school year. Such service can consist in volunteering in the classroom, helping with field trips, working on a school fund raiser, etc. The service hours program is explained in detail in the "Service Hours Agreement".
- Families are encouraged to participate in the SCRIP program, a school fund raiser based on the use of girt certificates. After $100 profit is raised by the family, then further profits are split 50/50. The Parents Club receives 50% and 50% is credited to the family's tuition account.
- Parents are welcome to visit the program or to volunteer and assist with instruction or supervision.
- Each child is acknowledged as a child of God and thus is a person of dignity, worthy of respect and loving care. When children fail to respect each other, they are corrected and may receive a brief "timeout" to have time to calm down, reflect and pray before being lovingly welcomed back to join the group activity.
Thank you for your interest in our preschool program! The Sacred Heart School Community has chosen to provide this service for families so that young children can have the advantage of a Catholic preschool setting and, if so desired, make a smooth transition to the elementary school. Our facility and program comply with California State regulations and our personnel are fully qualified. Here are some highlights of our program:
